About The Position

The Programmer Writer for AWS Cloud Governance is responsible for creating high-quality technical documentation and code samples for AWS services such as AWS Config, AWS Control Tower, AWS Audit Manager, and AWS Organizations. This role requires a blend of programming skills and technical writing expertise to effectively communicate complex information to a diverse technical audience. The position emphasizes collaboration with software developers and product managers to enhance the customer experience through clear and concise documentation.

Requirements

  • Degree or certification in a relevant technical field or equivalent experience
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience designing and producing content for a technical audience such as Software Engineers, System Administrators, or IT professionals
  • Experience using content publishing tools to write, format, manage, and publish technical content on the web
  • Ability to read and write basic example code in one or more programming languages, such as Python, Java, JavaScript, Ruby, C#, or Go

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience working on content that scales across multiple products and requires cross-team collaboration
  • Experience working with XML, markdown, or HTML
  • Experience designing, planning, and delivering content that meets the needs of a technical audience

Responsibilities

  • Author and deliver high-quality, public-facing documentation and code sample content that is accurate, discoverable, relevant, usable, organized, and aligned with AWS style and standards
  • Use subject-matter expertise in your product and its relevant technologies to review product planning and design documents, and provide feedback to improve the customer experience
  • Develop, negotiate, and drive content strategy in alignment with product strategy
  • Engage with customers, gather data and feedback, and report insights around content performance metrics
  • Develop scripts, sample code, and technical procedures that are easy to use
  • Write customer-facing text for consoles and context-sensitive help panes
  • Hire and develop writers on the team
  • Identify and drive opportunities to improve team efficiency
