About the position

The Program Manager, Teacher Residency & Instructional Coaching is a unique opportunity to put your stamp on the AppleTree's Early Learning Teacher Residency Program and while leading customized instructional coaching at the AppleTree schools where residents are placed. This position fosters school environments of learning and development for both teachers and children. The Program Manager partners with each school leader to identify needs across the campuses and creates customized plans for professional learning that align to the unique needs of the schools. The Program Manager is a key member of AppleTree leadership team charged with driving strategic plan implementation, exceptional talent development, fundraising and fiscal management and efficient program and project management. In managing the program, the Program Manager will also provide leadership, coaching, mentoring, support, and evaluation of Resident Teachers.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage AppleTree's Teacher Residency Program
  • Develop and execute a strategic plan for supporting the continuous improvement of the AppleTree Early Learning Teacher Residency Program
  • Support professional learning opportunities that help to build an internal pipeline of highly effective and prepared Lead Teacher candidates
  • Recruit, onboard and develop effective novice teachers in each cohort
  • Establish and reinforce a culture of achievement that drives Residents to ensure that all students achieve at high levels through all interactions with Residents
  • Collaborate with program partners (AELTR, school leadership, and Human Resources) to implement performance-based assessment system
  • Support communication, coordination, and coherence between program partners; problem-solve challenges or issues that arise for residents and mentors and advocate for their needs
  • Collaborate with the human resources recruitment team to develop and execute a strategy for the recruitment and selection of future program participants and to cultivate a talent pipeline for the program
  • Systematically collects, analyzes, and identifies program trends through teacher classroom in-person and video observations
  • Collaborate with AppleTree leaders, especially Principals, to integrate residency work into school setting and leverage residency-related capacity development to support teacher development across all AppleTree Schools
  • Collaborate with the Professional Development Manager to plan and implement ongoing mentor professional learning, related to both mentors' coaching skills and to their instructional needs
  • Acquire and maintain new external partnerships, including philanthropic, that support the development of programming
  • Author grants proposals and reports to secure funding to enhance programming and update stakeholders on program developments and progress
  • Develop and cultivate partnerships with other organizations working in teacher prep and identify ways to broaden the array of resources available by drawing upon these partnerships
  • Communicate and collaborate regularly with ATS Leadership Team to analyze data across programs and contribute ideas for instructional and curriculum supports
  • Contribute to the revision of Every Child Ready resources and materials as requested
  • Adherence to ECR Professional Learning: Use the ECR Professional Learning Scope and Sequence, paired with the AELTR Residency progression as guides to support the high-quality implementation of the Every Child Ready instructional model to support positive outcomes for teachers and children
  • Develop data-informed unique coaching plans for classrooms and campuses to address identified instructional and behavioral needs
  • Collaborative Instructional Planning: Collaborate with teachers and school leaders to identify the instructional needs of students, set learning goals and targets using a variety of data sources, and problem-solve with teachers to implement best practices for continuous academic growth of students
  • Ongoing Coaching and Workshops: Implement ongoing in-class coaching and workshops in assigned schools and classrooms to enhance instructional quality and student outcomes
  • Maintain Proficiency in CLASS: Continuously develop expertise in the Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS) to effectively observe, assess, and provide feedback on classroom interactions
  • Systematic Data Application: Apply data systematically to support the implementation of the Every Child Ready (ECR) instructional model, ensuring all students are prepared for academic success
  • Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) Implementation: Collaborate with and support instructional leadership to ensure teachers implement the MTSS model as designed
  • IEP Goals Implementation: Support the implementation and data collection aligned with IEP goals in the general education classroom as needed
  • Partner with school leaders to foster an instructional culture of high expectations for adults and children
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Collect, analyze and model the use of data to drive instruction
  • Classroom-Based Assessments: Assist teachers in implementing the Every Child Ready assessments to monitor children's social-emotional and academic progress
  • Documentation of Coaching Activities: Utilize appropriate forms and multimedia tools to document coaching activities and in-classroom support experiences
  • Data Entry Support: Assist the ECR Assessment team Specialist in monitoring data entry for teachers and provide data entry support as needed
  • Continuously Contributes to a Community of Practice Identifying ways to Inform Development and Continuous Improvement of Instructional Model

Requirements

  • Master's degree in education, public administration, non-profit management, business administration or a related field (required)
  • At least 5 years of program management experience leading the development of new programming, funder and partnership engagement, grant development and program evaluation
  • An entrepreneurial orientation with a strong desire to build programs, systems and infrastructure
  • 5-10 years of experience working in K-12 education, with at least 2-3 years experience coaching or facilitating learning for adults is preferred
  • Experience leading instructional improvement for a school, system and/or district, with a track record of improving student achievement a plus
  • Great communication skills verbally and in writing, with an ability to develop quick rapport and build trust
  • Detail orientation, organization and ability to keep multiple projects moving forward concurrently
  • Demonstrated data-driven orientation
  • Versatility and a total learner mentality: comfort learning about new content areas and approaches to work
  • Experience working in or with district-operated schools preferred
  • Reliable transportation is required
