About The Position

The Production Manager is responsible for managing and supervising the department, scheduling production to meet customer or company requirements, developing and managing the departmental budget, and coordinating training. This role involves supervising front line supervisors, monitoring payroll, conducting employee evaluations, and ensuring effective communication with other departments. The Production Manager also schedules production lines for maximum output, manages the departmental budget, and is responsible for food safety and quality programs as assigned by the plant's SQF practitioner.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree is required; Engineering Degree is highly preferred.
  • First Aid Certification.
  • Hazmat Certification.
  • Lockout/Tagout License.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Seven plus years of experience, preferably in bakery operations.
  • Experience and/or certification in SQF will be strongly considered.

  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of HACCP, GMPs, and SQF.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team building skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge and understanding of all relevant federal and state laws, regulations, and operating guidelines.
  • Computer literacy and ability to interface with PCs.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises and manages the department and personnel by supervising front line supervisors and communicating any procedural changes.
  • Monitors payroll for line personnel and conducts employee evaluations.
  • Plans and organizes activities, coordinates and attends training seminars, and maintains labor relations.
  • Ensures effective communication with other departments and plans for the implementation of new products and processes.
  • Schedules production by developing production schedules and adjusting them based on customer requirements.
  • Plans for the testing of new products, equipment, and processes.
  • Manages the departmental budget by developing a budget for labor based on projected sales.
  • Monitors labor, supplies, overtime, and temporary labor accounts.
  • Coordinates with accounting on costing new products and developing cost reductions within the department.
  • Responsible for Food Safety and Quality Prerequisite programs as assigned.
  • Ensures operational staff meet food safety and quality requirements.
  • Develops and coordinates training procedures for personnel, maintains accurate records, and manages inventory.
