About The Position

The Electrical/Mechanical Assembler at TAPCO plays a crucial role in ensuring the assembly, programming, and testing of various traffic safety products. This position is integral to the production process, working within a cell environment that emphasizes Lean Manufacturing and 5S principles. The assembler will contribute to the company's mission of enhancing road and community safety by delivering high-quality finished products according to customer specifications.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of electronics including OMS law, AC/DC, Voltage/Amps, and solar controls.
  • Mechanical ability to read and interpret electronic and mechanical work instructions, drawings, and schematics.
  • Mathematical skills to perform basic calculations using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
  • Strong verbal, listening, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze and solve routine problems with concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook.
  • 1-2 years of relevant experience within the industry, particularly in assembling panels, wire harnesses, or other electrical components.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble custom orders according to engineered-to-order standards and documentation.
  • Program and test finished products including BTS Blinker signs, blinker paddles, RRFB, Beacons, ETO Blinker Signs, and DirecTimes.
  • Pack products into appropriate containers using protective padding.
  • Participate in cell changeovers from part to part.
  • Perform minor maintenance and solve routine problems.
  • Conduct regular 5S audits and quality checks.
  • Share and support ideas for improvement in group meetings.
  • Communicate with the Cell/Team Leader, Planner, and Management as required.
  • Participate in group and individual improvement activities with team members, engineering, and management.
