About the position
The Principal Engineer of the Insurance Analytics team at Overjet will lead work on integrating the AI pipelines from the AI team and developing the Automated Claims Review and Payment Integrity products. The ideal candidate is a technologist at heart with 10+ years of software engineering experience and 3+ years in an engineering lead/architect role. They should have a strong understanding of systems, dependencies, and be able to forecast and mitigate challenges effectively. Additionally, they should have experience in cultivating a strong engineering culture in an iterative, agile environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead work on integrating AI pipelines from the AI team
- Develop Automated Claims Review and Payment Integrity products built on data exchange, ETL, frontend, backend, and API components
- Bring a delivery mindset and operational excellence to the Insurance team
- Enable the Insurance team to effortlessly meet delivery timelines and SLOs
- Provide design, architecture, and code reviews
- Forecast and mitigate challenges effectively
- Hold a high bar for the quality of the architecture and design of systems
- Strive to keep the architecture and design of systems simple
- Coach and mentor software developers to deliver timely, high-quality software
- Cultivate a strong engineering culture in an iterative, agile environment
- Lead complex engineering efforts
- Have knowledge of Java, Python, Javascript, Google Cloud Platform, Unix/Linux, Docker, Kubernetes, RESTful API, Service Mesh, IaC, and various other technologies
- Have experience with a cloud-native environment (GCP or AWS)
- Have strong experience with SQL (Postgres preferred)
Requirements
- 10+ years of software engineering experience
- 3+ years in an engineering lead/architect role
- Expert understanding of systems, their dependencies, and ability to forecast and mitigate challenges effectively
- High bar for quality of architecture and design of systems, while striving to keep it simple
- Passionate about teamwork and collaboration, while coaching and mentoring software developers to deliver timely, high-quality software
- Experience in cultivating a strong engineering culture in an iterative, agile environment
- Led complex engineering efforts and know what it takes to deliver while still having a healthy team
- Knowledge of Java, Python, Javascript, Google Cloud Platform, Unix/Linux, Docker, Kubernetes, RESTful API, Service Mesh, IaC, and various other technologies is helpful
- Experience with a cloud-native environment (GCP or AWS)
- Strong experience with SQL (Postgres preferred)
