About The Position

Pre-Analytical Assistant I is responsible for general support functions within the Technical Operations Department. This position requires the ability to learn job duties assigned and develop an understanding of how all functions in Tech Ops and Specimen Processing work together and impact Technical departments and result quality. The role involves identifying problems with specimen types, missing information, and ensuring timely problem resolution. The assistant must meet quality and production standards within 6 months of completing training and complete all required documentation legibly and within the assigned time frame. Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)
  • Medical background preferred, including medical terminology applicable to a clinical laboratory.
  • Minimal data entry skills.

  • Previous experience in a production environment.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates an ability to learn the job duties assigned to the Pre-Analytical Assistant I.
  • Develops an understanding of how all functions in Tech Ops and Specimen Processing work together.
  • Identifies problems with specimen types and missing information.
  • Resolves or forwards information in support of timely problem resolution.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of compliance policies related to test ordering.
  • Completes all required written documentation legibly and within the assigned time frame.
  • Reports to work on time and follows attendance guidelines.
  • Supports the department's performance in the event of coworker absences.
  • Learns additional functions within Tech Ops and Specimen Processing for career progression.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
