About the position

For nearly 85 years, we’ve designed, built and maintained amphibious ships, destroyers, and cutters for the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Coast Guard. The largest supplier of U.S. Navy surface combatants, we’re simultaneously building four classes of ships and have pioneered the development and production of technologically advanced, highly capable ships for the surface Navy fleet for decades. Researches, develops, designs, and tests electrical components, equipment, systems, and networks. Designs electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes.

Responsibilities

• Researches, develops, designs, and tests electrical components, equipment, systems, and networks.
• Designs electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes.
• Develop technical solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity.
• Represents the organization as the prime technical contact on contracts and projects.
• Interacts with senior external personnel on significant technical matters often requiring coordination between organizations.

Requirements

• Must have either a bachelor's degree in Science with 9 years of relevant experience; OR a master's degree in Science with 7 years of relevant experience; OR a PhD with 4 years of relevant experience.

Nice-to-haves

• Extensive engineering experience with interior communication, integrated ship/machinery control systems and power systems for CG 47, LPD 17, and L Classes.
• Experience developing and implementing SCD modifications for interior communication, integrated ship/machinery control systems and power systems.
• Lead design efforts to integrate conceptual government furnished information into detail design products.
• Perform cognizant engineering liaison with other engineering disciplines and lead shipcheck and drawing development efforts.
