About The Position

This role will be based in San Francisco, Sunnyvale, New York or Chicago. At LinkedIn, our approach to flexible work is centered on trust and optimized for culture, connection, clarity, and the evolving needs of our business. The work location of this role is hybrid, meaning it will be performed both from home and from a LinkedIn office on select days, as determined by the business needs of the team. We are looking for a Power BI Developer who can leverage their data modeling and visualization skills to enhance a Power BI semantic layer and build compelling and insightful dashboards for our business stakeholders. Candidates should possess expert-level knowledge of business data modeling, logical data modeling, schema design, data quality evaluation, data storytelling and root cause analysis.

Requirements

  • 5+ years SQL experience
  • 3+ years of related experience creating data models (e.g. SSAS Tablular/OLAP, Power BI, Tableau, LookML)
  • 5+ years of experience with a BI or visualization tool (e.g. Power BI, Tableau)
  • BA/BS degree or equivalent degree

Nice To Haves

  • Successfully implemented a self-service semantic layer using the Microsoft stack (Hybrid and / or full cloud) for a large company
  • Experience with Microsoft stack beyond Power BI (e.g. Analysis Services, Fabric)
  • Experience with MDX or DAX coding to query against tabular and multidimensional models
  • Experience with all facets of the SDLC (from requirements through sunset)

Responsibilities

  • Developing, maintaining and optimizing data models in Power BI that support various reporting and analytical needs.
  • Support and design movement and migration of high volumes of data into Power BI with the best possible performance.
  • Utilize best practices and standards to create entities, relationships, measures, calculation groups, field parameters, etc that support stakeholder requirements.
  • Ensure data accuracy and reliability within solutions through data validation and quality checks.
  • Design and build easily consumable, accessible, and insights-driven visualizations to end-users.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving data issues and performance bottlenecks.
  • Bring critical thinking & problem-solving skills to a range of challenging problems.
  • Collaborating with other developers, analysts and business users to understand requirements, provide feedback and deliver solutions.
  • Train and coach internal and external teams to ensure effective knowledge management activity.
