About The Position

Chai is the fastest growing generative AI startup in Silicon Valley, founded by a group of relentless algorithmic traders. Our company seeks to challenge the status quo and push boundaries wherever they may exist. We place quantitative methods at the heart of what we do in order to realize what we believe to be the most ambitious goals in our industry. We are looking to hire exceptional PhD and Postdoctoral scientific researchers who seek fresh challenges after completing their academic commitments. The ideal candidate would be a world-class academic, as evidenced by either an excellent PhD thesis or publications in high-calibre international peer-reviewed journals and conferences. We will judge this commensurate with career stage. Additionally, the candidate should be a naturally gifted software engineer, with experience in either a high-level language such as Python or a low-level one such as C++.

Requirements

• Hold Bachelors and Masters degrees in a hard-science discipline from world-leading institutions.
• Must either hold, or be working towards, a PhD degree in a hard science.
• Must have defended thesis and passed with no major corrections before the proposed start date.
• Experienced in programming in any sensible language, evidenced by contributions to open-source projects or code written for research articles.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with engineers to build highly accurate statistical pipelines.
• Spend at least 50% of time working on internal Chai research projects.
• Make high-impact decisions that determine Chai's future.
