About The Position

The Postdoctoral Associate will work under the supervision of Dr. Maurizio Del Poeta in the Microbiology and Immunology department at Stony Brook University. This role involves conducting research focused on the efficacy of antifungal drugs and performing various analyses related to microbial and human cell cultures. The position requires a strong background in biological sciences and hands-on experience with animal work and tissue culture techniques.

Requirements

• Doctoral Degree in Biological Science or a closely related field by the start of the appointment.
• High level of familiarity with microbial and human cell cultures.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in animal work including mouse genotyping and various injection techniques.
• High familiarity with tissue culture techniques such as transfection using plasmids or lentivirus.
• Experience with nanoparticle/vesicle analysis by TEM, SEM, or X-ray.
• Research experience using metals like iron and zinc.

Responsibilities

• Conduct research on the efficacy of antifungal drugs on mice survival and tissue burden culture upon fungal infections.
• Perform microbial and human cell culture analysis.
• Conduct metabolomics analysis and protein expression/purification.
• Analyze and interpret research results, addressing potential problems and discussing findings with the principal investigator.
• Contribute to writing reports and manuscripts based on research results.
• Present research findings during meetings and provide ideas for future experiments.
