About The Position

The Program Director for the Plumbing and Pipefitting program is responsible for curriculum design and development, instruction, recruitment, and advisement of students, budgeting, and management of adjunct faculty. This role involves the ongoing development, implementation, and instruction of courses across multiple campuses, requiring the director to teach at least 20 contact hours of day or evening instructional courses per semester. The courses will be delivered in various formats including face-to-face, online, or hybrid as necessary. The director will also participate in college committees and professional enhancement activities, evaluate students' progress, maintain supplies and equipment, prepare budget requests, and meet with students and staff to discuss instructional programs and other issues.

Requirements

  • Diploma in Plumbing and Pipefitting Technology from an accredited institution.
  • Ga Certified Construction Industry Licensing Board (GCILB) Master Plumbing License or CBILB Journeyman Plumber.
  • Three (3) years out of the past seven (7) years of direct industry experience.
  • Three (3) years of Supervisory Experience.
  • Valid Driver's License.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in a related field.
  • Ten (10) + years of in-field experience.
  • Directly Related Teaching experience at the post-secondary level.
  • Additional Industry certifications.
  • Knowledge of discipline-specific state standards.
  • Knowledge and experience in the use of the Internet, Email, Windows, Microsoft Office, KMS, Blackboard, Banner, TaskStream.

Responsibilities

  • Teaches program-specific courses in a classroom/lab/online environment.
  • Evaluates and advises students in a classroom/lab/online setting.
  • Works with Associate Dean to create course schedules.
  • Ensures safety and security requirements are met in the discipline area.
  • Supports faculty to ensure all equipment is in working order.
  • Suggests new/updated technology to remain current with trends.
  • Instructs students in and ensures adherence to safety rules.
  • Develops program curriculum, syllabi, goals, and objectives.
  • Establishes, measures, and evaluates program or departmental student learning outcomes.
  • Responsible for development and course edits to Blackboard master course shells.
  • Coordinates, reviews, and recommends program expenditures.
  • Maintains appropriate accreditation for the program.
  • Manages all adjunct program faculty and participates in their training.
  • Plans and participates in program advisory committee meetings.
  • Assists with student recruitment, retention, and job placement efforts.
