The Program Planning & Scheduling Manager at BAE Systems is responsible for leading a team that manages, creates, and maintains complex program schedules within an EVMS environment. This role involves advising programs on best practices, ensuring team training, and collaborating with various functions to optimize program execution. The manager will provide actionable schedule intelligence to decision-makers and influence budget forecasting and project completion estimates, thereby impacting overall business performance.

  • Lead a scheduling team of 4-6 personnel in support of large, complex programs of strategic importance to the business
  • Provide clear expectations for performance, be visible to your direct reports, and model core leader expectations
  • Establish, disseminate, and maintain documented common practices
  • Share practices with scheduling personnel within the OSI Program Management Office (PMO)
  • Engage with program directors and leaders to ensure the program planning function meets their expectations
  • Explore additional services the program scheduling team could provide to benefit OSI business performance
  • Support program management tool development and implementation, and maintenance of OSI policies and procedures
  • Maintain and share knowledge of leading-edge technologies and techniques throughout BAE Systems
  • Communicate schedule and program management guidelines/techniques to program teams
  • Clearly communicate issues and resolutions to project management in written and verbal formats
  • Collaborate with functions to understand their processes and develop holistic solutions
  • Coordinate and participate in Master Planning & Scheduling development activities
  • Participate in team and functional activities including training and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Develop relationships with schedule stakeholders including internal and external customers
  • Bachelor's Degree in Operations, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Technical field of study, or similar applicable discipline and 10 years of experience or equivalent experience
  • Experience in Program Planning/Scheduling, Program Controls, or similar
  • Experience in People Management/Leadership
  • Experience in Scheduling and Schedule Analysis tools and processes
  • Ability to quickly master integrated program management processes employed by BAE Systems
  • Ability to assemble and present data and multi-faceted matters in a meaningful way to stakeholders
  • Ability to foster relationships and collaborate closely with other functions
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to influence and work well with others
  • Ability to make decisions with sound judgment while complying with policies and procedures
  • Functional management ability including managing expectations with internal and external customers
  • Proficient in P6, MS Project, or other planning software
  • 10+ years of progressing responsibilities in planning/scheduling
  • Experience with scheduling and schedule analysis tools including schedule structures and critical path analysis
  • Experience with AcumenFuse, AcumenRisk, Milestones Pro, and Oracle
  • Experience with program schedule forecasting in a US Department of Defense (DoD) program environment
  • Thorough understanding of US DoD schedule policies and Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS) requirements
  • Understanding of the integration of schedule, risk, earned value, and program management
  • Proven continuous improvement / learning mindset
