About The Position

The Pipeline Engineer Technician position at Okaloosa Gas District involves applying basic engineering principles under supervision to assist engineers in feasibility studies and field surveys. Requirements

  • High School diploma plus five years of experience, or an Associate's Degree plus three years of experience.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to compile notes, sketches, and measurement data accurately.
  • Problem identification and analysis skills with sound reasoning.
  • Ability to work in a team environment with individuals at all levels.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, local, and District procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Autodesk/AutoCAD software.
  • Knowledge of revocable permits, right-of-ways, and easements.

Responsibilities

  • Apply basic engineering principles to deliver specifications, instructions, layout designs, and sketches for gas facilities.
  • Provide information and technical assistance to customers, architects, and contractors regarding policies and procedures.
  • Maintain knowledge of gas standards, policies, and construction practices.
  • Conduct basic reviews of plans for gas mains and services for various types of developments.
  • Perform feasibility studies and estimate costs for gas mains and services.
  • Design layouts and cost estimates for gas mains, services, and expansions.
  • Ensure construction drawings meet permit requirements and that proper permits are submitted.
  • Requisition materials for gas projects and coordinate with government agencies on upcoming projects.
  • Inspect and create as-built drawings for major expansion projects, tracking materials used.
  • Ensure accurate information and records for field crews and mapping systems.
  • Coordinate work with other departments and customers on major projects.
  • Proficiently use Microsoft Excel for engineering calculations and tasks.
  • Safely operate and maintain the assigned vehicle and tools.
