About The Position

This position is for a Physical Therapist within the Federal system, specifically serving locations in Chinle, AZ; Kayenta, AZ; Pinon, AZ; Tsaile, AZ; Crownpoint, NM; Gallup, NM; and Shiprock, NM. The role requires a graduate or higher level degree in physical therapy from an accredited program and a current, unrestricted license to practice as a Physical Therapist. The position is open for applications from February 10, 2025, to January 31, 2026. Applicants must demonstrate sufficient experience and/or education to perform the duties of the position, including volunteer work and part-time experience. The position is classified under the GS-11 and GS-12 levels, with specific qualifications required for each level.

Requirements

  • Graduate or higher level degree in physical therapy from an accredited program.
  • Current, active, full, and unrestricted license as a Physical Therapist.
  • Passed the National Physical Therapy Examination administered by the FSBPT.
  • For GS-11: Three years of progressively higher level graduate education or one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-9.
  • For GS-12: One year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-11.

  • Experience in planning and carrying out complex treatment procedures.
  • Advanced techniques to address specific physical therapy requirements.
  • Experience in assessing, diagnosing, and treating a broad spectrum of neuro and musculoskeletal disorders.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and interpret evaluation and test results to meet patient's goals and needs.
  • Determine physical therapy treatment plans and administer treatments.
  • Instruct patients, families, and caregivers in home exercise programs.
  • Conduct in-service training with Physical Therapy staff.
  • Serve as a clinical mentor for PT residency or fellowship students.
  • Apply the latest research to client management to rehabilitate and enhance performance.
  • Order or recommend diagnostic imaging such as x-rays, CTs, and MRIs.
  • Refer patients to specialists as appropriate.
  • Plan and carry out a full range of treatment for complex therapeutic objectives.
