Review, analyzes and assigns the final diagnoses and procedures as stated by the practicing provider's documentation following all compliance policies and guidelines. Accurately codes office and hospital procedures for providers to ensure reimbursement. Provides physician education to the providers to ensure proper completion of Electronic Health Records and proper assignment of ICD 10 CDM, HCPCS and CPT codes, verbally, physically, and in written forms.

  • Review clinical documentation and code to the highest level of specificity for accurate charge capture
  • Interact with providers to provide feedback/education utilizing physical, verbal and written communication skills
  • Assign and sequence appropriate codes and modifiers using current procedure, diagnosis, and HCPCS to services billed
  • Accurately follow coding guidelines and legal requirements to ensure compliance with Federal and State guidelines
  • Communicate with Physicians, other business group personnel, clinical areas, and staff in coding related questions
  • Manage coding related edit work queues
  • Prepare documentation audits with written results and trend data
  • Present the results to the Provider, Department Chairman, and/or Compliance Officer
  • Maintain compliance standards in accordance with internal compliance policies
  • Report compliance issues appropriately
  • Identify and account for missing charges and/or documentation
  • Perform coding work requiring independent judgment with timeliness and accuracy
  • 3 years - Orthopedic nursing or as a nurse navigator or similar role
  • Perioperative and/or progressive care experience preferred
  • Understanding of insurance authorization processes preferred
  • Associates Nursing required
  • Bachelors Nursing preferred
  • Current licensure as RN in Florida or valid licensure in one of the states under the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC)
  • If licensed under the eNLC, must obtain FL RN licensure within 90 days of becoming a Florida resident
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required at time of hire
  • ONC certification preferred
