Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Greet customers appropriately and treat all customers in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Ensure all field phlebotomy and PSC specimens are collected accurately and on time.
  • Practice specimen collection according to established procedures and legal requirements under supervision.
  • Complete requisitions accurately and call clients to confirm handwritten orders and verify test(s) ordered.
  • Research test/client information utilizing lab computer system or Directory of Service.
  • Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
  • Package specimens for transport and maintain required records and documentation.
  • Read, understand, and comply with departmental policies, protocols, and procedures.
  • Maintain all appropriate PSC/Phlebotomy logs and assist with compilation of monthly statistics and data.
  • Perform basic clerical duties such as filing, faxing, and preparing mail.
  • Submit accurate time and travel logs as directed by management.
  • Demonstrate organizational commitment and adhere to departmental and company grooming and dress code guidelines.
  • Answer the telephone in a courteous and professional manner and communicate appropriately with clients, patients, coworkers, and the public.
  • Report unresolved problems immediately to the appropriate Manager, Supervisor, Group Lead, or PSR II for resolution.
  • Keep work area neat and clean and dispose of biohazard containers when scheduled.
  • Help with inventories and other tasks as assigned, and stock supplies as needed.
