About The Position

Welcome to a medical center where you're the center of attention. The technician will need to be familiar with all aspects of pharmacy that fall within the realm of Pharmacy Technician as defined by the Washington State Pharmacy Quality Assurance Commission (RCW 18.64A and WAC 246-901). Under this definition, a Pharmacy Technician is a person who has satisfactorily completed a board approved training program designed to prepare persons to perform nondiscretionary functions associated with the practice of pharmacy.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Completion of Washington State Pharmacy Quality Assurance Commission approved pharmacy technician training program.
  • Licensure by the Washington State Pharmacy Quality Assurance Commission required.
  • Experience in a hospital pharmacy setting preferred.
  • USP 797 and clean room training required to compound sterile products.

Nice To Haves

  • Current Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification required.
  • One-year experience in a hospital pharmacy setting recommended.
  • Sterile compounding and non-sterile compounding training recommended.
  • Prior use of automated dispensing systems recommended.

Responsibilities

  • Perform manipulative and nondiscretionary functions associated with the practice of pharmacy.
  • Work in a pharmacy and office environment, including standing, lifting, and walking.
  • Handle exposure to corrosives, poisonous and toxic agents, and contact with soaps, cleaning agents, and chemicals.
