As a Pharmacy Tech at MercyOne, you will assist Clinical Pharmacists in preparing and distributing medications and maintaining the drug inventory and maintaining patient records in Pharmacy. These duties require skill and training but does not include making clinical judgments that require a pharmacist professional judgment. Certified Pharmacy Technicians work only under the supervision of a registered pharmacist. They do not perform duties that can legally be performed only by a registered pharmacist. Ages of patients served range from neonatal to geriatric.

Requirements

  • National Pharmacy Technician Certification required.
  • Required to be registered with the State of Iowa Board of Pharmacy before commencing employment.
  • One to three years of previous pharmacy experience is preferred (or combination college and experience).
  • Must be able to type accurately and have basic knowledge of medical terms and abbreviations.
  • Manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination are useful in preparing or assisting with preparation of orders.
  • Must be able to demonstrate basic computer skills in a Windows environment.
  • Must be comfortable operating in a collaborative, shared leadership environment.
  • Must possess a personal presence characterized by honesty, integrity, and caring.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Clinical Pharmacists in preparing and distributing medications.
  • Maintain the drug inventory.
  • Maintain patient records in Pharmacy.
