Under the supervision of a pharmacist, performs non-clinical operations of the pharmacy department that fall under the duties of a pharmacy technician in accordance with state, federal and hospital policies.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) with the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or National Healthcareer Association (NHA).
  • New York State Pharmacy Technician License.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations, i.e., addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Minimum of one year of Pharmacy experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Hospital pharmacy experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provides excellent service to patients and hospital staff.
  • Ensures adherence to standard operation procedures and compliance with state law, federal law, and regulatory agencies.
  • Ensures the pharmacy remains in compliance with all handling requirements for specialty drugs.
  • Performs duties as assigned by the Pharmacy Manager, Lead Pharmacist, and Lead Technician.
  • Immediately reports quality events to the pharmacist on duty.
  • Registers all sales through the point-of-sale terminal.
  • Interacts with cross-functional teams in the hospital.
  • Performs inventory management activities, including ordering, receiving, and storing pharmaceuticals.
  • Maintains pharmacy department by ensuring it is stocked with adequate supplies.
  • Packs and ships medications in accordance with department procedures.
  • Provides excellent customer services by answering questions and assisting patients and other professionals.
  • Assists with department and enterprise projects and initiatives.
  • Performs other special projects and duties as assigned.
