About The Position

The Patient Safety Monitor primarily assists with providing a safe environment to a specific patient through visual observation. The need for a Patient Safety Monitor is initiated and ordered by the attending physician or per hospital policy. In this role, you will be responsible for providing customer service to the patient and notifying the appropriate primary nurse and/or charge nurse of safety issues or concerns. Patient safety monitoring is done both in person, at the bedside, and through a virtual telehealth model. A Patient Safety Monitor may observe up to 11 patients on virtual cameras. They will work with care teams to monitor, admit, and discharge patients from virtual monitors and provide breaks to other Patient Safety Monitor staff.

Requirements

• Previous work or volunteer experience doing customer service type tasks, such as answering questions and communicating information is required.
• BLS: Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider certified by American Heart Association (AHA) is required upon start.
• Asante Crisis Intervention course must be completed within 30 days of hire.
• Asante Safe Patient Handling course must be completed within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Supporting the healthcare delivery team by monitoring patient activities as directed by primary nurse, always assuring patient safety.
• Documenting observation in the patient's electronic medical record.
• Participating in education and Performance Improvement activities to provide a quality service and keep current with industry changes.
