About The Position

The Virtual Safety Monitor position at Saint Thomas West involves providing observation and surveillance of assigned patients. The role requires monitoring patients through video monitors and communicating with them using a 2-way audio device. The monitor will notify clinical staff of any changes in patient condition or safety risk levels and will complete documentation of patient activities, behaviors, and other safety and comfort-related issues.

Requirements

• BLS Provider preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
• Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Provide observation and surveillance of assigned patients.
• Monitor patients by use of video monitors.
• Communicate and/or instruct patients by use of 2-way audio device.
• Notify clinical staff of any changes in patient condition and/or safety risk level.
• Complete documentation of observations of patient activities, patient behaviors and other safety & comfort related issues.
