About the position
This position provides accurate and prompt drug therapy as well as current drug information and drug utilization reviews. Work is performed under the general direction of the Director of Pharmacy Services. The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy and 1-2 years of related experience or 5-7 years of related experience and/or training. The preferred qualification is a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.). The key job responsibilities include managing daily operations and ensuring the delivery of patient services according to company standards and expectations.
Responsibilities
- Provide accurate and prompt drug therapy
- Provide current drug information and drug utilization reviews
- Work under the general direction of the Director of Pharmacy Services
- Complete Oncology Pharmacy curriculum within 30 days of hire if not BCOP
- Have a Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy
- Have 1-2 years related experience or 5-7 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Be licensed or eligible for licensure as a pharmacist in TN
- Have a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) (preferred)
- Work in a typical clinical environment with moderate noise level
- Have good balance and coordination
- Have close visual acuity including color, depth perception, and field of vision
- Stand, walk, sit, use hand/wrist, climb or balance, talk, hear, see for extended periods of time
- Work with fumes or airborne particles, risk of electric shock, and toxic or caustic chemicals
- Read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
- Write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
- Effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
- Work with mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions
- Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
- Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
- Lift up to 50 lbs
- Travel may be required
- Manage daily activities at designated site
- Maintain all necessary logs
- Stock drug orders and/or supplies as required
- Monitor drug inventory to ensure the department meets inventory goals
- Order drug inventory as required
- Effectively communicate with infusion nurses and physician nurses to verify doses, drug information, availability, and interactions
- Respect the dignity and confidentiality of patients
- Maintain an excellent attendance record and report on time for work
- Maintain a professional attitude and appearance
- Comply with clinic safety policy and procedures
- Possess excellent communication skills that lend to a team-oriented work environment
- Attend staff meetings as scheduled
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships within The West Clinic
- Be proficient in computer applications including word processing and e-mail

- Work with multiple departments and sources to accommodate the needs of patients
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy

- Backup support for other pharmacists in infusion and oral service lines
- Supervision of pharmacy technicians, students, and/or trainees in the assigned work area
