About The Position

Painter I positions in the Paint department will be required to possess the skills to apply various types of liquid coating. (Primers, Single stage topcoats and Base/Clear applications) Painter I positions will possess the ability to train and develop Painter II positions to increase overall skill set within the department.

Responsibilities

  • Must be able to perform all aspects of Painter I job requirements, independently, with little supervision.
  • Able to perform in a fast-paced production paint environment.
  • Ability to spray solid and high metallic colors to meet the New Flyer standard.
  • Knowledge of equipment used and the skill to use the equipment for surface preparation for paint applications.
  • Ability to interpret paint drawings to apply stencils or premask for applying stripes or other related paint designs.
  • Ability to apply fine line tape for repair or first time install of paint striping.
  • Develop a complete understanding of quality paint standards to ensure that the paint finishes produced by the paint department meets the New Flyer standard.
  • Become acquainted and continuously follow all painting safety policies and procedures on the job.
  • Must regularly lift and move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, and reach. Must be able to climb up and down, as well as working while using a ladder.
  • Must be able to wear a respirator for up to eight hours.
  • Clean work areas and keep all dirt/dust, trash, used sandpaper, etc. from off the floor and in other areas by following 5S and other lean initiatives.
  • Perform other related job duties as determined by management.
  • Attendance is an essential function of the job.
  • Must be at workstation at the beginning of the shift.
