About the position

The position involves performing a variety of tasks related to packing and repacking non-hazardous and hazardous materials. The employee will select appropriate containers and packing methods, examine prepackaged items for repacking needs, and apply necessary certification and shipping data. The role requires knowledge of packing methods, including blocking and bracing, particularly for hazardous materials. The employee may also be responsible for receiving, storing, and distributing various supplies and materials using material handling equipment such as forklifts and stock selectors.

Responsibilities

  • Perform packing and repacking of non-hazardous and hazardous materials.
  • Select proper containers and packing methods.
  • Examine prepackaged items for repacking or over-packing needs.
  • Consolidate shipments and apply certification and shipping data.
  • Apply various packing methods and techniques based on regulations.
  • Pack, preserve, or re-pack materials where procedures are standard.
  • Receive, store, and distribute bin supplies and materials using material handling equipment.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Set schedule for tour of duty.
  • Non-sensitive security requirements.
  • Completion of a favorable suitability or fitness determination.
  • Must be registered with Selective Service if applicable.
  • Pre-employment physical is required.
  • Must obtain and maintain necessary licenses and certifications for hazardous materials handling.
  • Must obtain and maintain a valid Material Handling Equipment (MHE) license.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in packing and handling hazardous materials.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and practices in a warehouse environment.
