About The Position

The position is available only to full-time students taking in-person business classes on the Pace Pleasantville campus. Pace Mart Associates manage and operate the Pace Mart convenience store in Mortola Library on the Pace Pleasantville campus. Some associates are promoted to manager positions in this student-run business. Pace Mart is open from 10:00 am - 10:00 pm most days, with earlier closing times on Fridays and later opening times on Sundays and Saturdays. During midterms and finals, the store stays open until midnight. Most associates work two to four 2-3 hour shifts per week, with an exact schedule to be determined with the supervisor; no more than 20 hours per week when school is in session and no more than 35 hours per week during breaks.

Requirements

• Must be a full-time student taking in-person business classes on the Pace Pleasantville campus
• Declared major or minor in a business discipline
• Strong customer service and organizational skills
• Reliable and responsible
• Ability to work independently and solve any issues that may arise
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
• Ability to handle confidential information in a discreet manner
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Reliable and patient with visitors

Responsibilities

• Open the store and operate the cash register
• Manage the store alone
• Serve customers and run the register and credit card machine
• Make coffee and stock the store
• Merchandise and clean the store
• Perform various managerial functions including accounting, marketing, HR, purchasing, and general management
