Responsibilities

  • Provides occupational therapy evaluations, modalities, and treatments as prescribed by a licensed physician.
  • Assists patients to reach their maximum performance and level of functioning.
  • Assumes responsibility and accountability for the care of patients treated by Certified Occupational Therapist Assistants, rehabilitation technicians, and occupational therapy students.
  • Assesses patients' needs and initiates appropriate occupational therapy interventions.
  • Observes and evaluates treatment effects and recommends changes to the physician if needed.
  • Performs assessments and reassessments on each patient as per policy.
  • Reports patient progress and barriers to discharge in team conferences.
  • Formulates a teaching plan based on identified learning needs and evaluates effectiveness.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and proficiency of occupational therapy modalities.
  • Manages and operates equipment safely and correctly.
  • Participates in patient/family conferences and team conferences.
  • Ensures that patient charges are accurate and entered on a timely basis.
  • Participates in infection control and organizational safety programs.

Requirements

  • Current licensure as an Occupational Therapist in the state where the hospital is located.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills in English; additional languages preferred.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous experience in all aspects of occupational therapy preferred.
