About The Position

Saint Cloud VA Health Care System is part of the VA Midwest Health Care Network (VISN 23). Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen to apply for this job.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Must be proficient in written and spoken English.
  • Must pass pre-employment physical examination/evaluation.
  • Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
  • Participation in the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccination program is a requirement for all Veterans Health Administration Health Care Personnel (HCP).

  • Previous Hospice or Long Term Care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides nursing care to residents according to established facility procedures adhering to all VA and nursing policies, procedures, standards, and protocol.
  • Assist residents with bowel and bladder elimination as indicated, collects specimens as ordered, measures and records output as indicated, manages urinary drainage devices as directed per facility policy, performs bladder scans per facility policy.
  • Observe, maintain, and promote skin integrity by following evidence-based practice guidelines, facility policies, procedures, and protocols. Completes skin inspections and reports findings.
  • Obtains, records, and reports vital signs and measurements which include temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure, height, weight, pulse oximetry and pain.
  • Positions residents to promote breathing and maintain open airway, assists with set up and administration of oxygen therapy as ordered.
  • Provides direct customer service that is prompt, friendly, and cooperative.
  • Uses safe and proper techniques when providing resident care and handling equipment, using Standard Precautions and personal protective equipment.
  • Maintains a safe/clean work environment, ensuring resident privacy.
