The National Health Corps (NHC) San Francisco program is part of the NHC AmeriCorps program, administered by the San Francisco Community Clinic Consortium. NHC operates in five regions across the United States, including Central California, Florida, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and San Francisco. Members of the NHC complete 1,700 hours of service over a period of 42-46 weeks, primarily at their assigned host sites. These sites engage in various health-related activities such as COVID-19 response, care coordination, case management, health education, outreach coordination, and patient navigation. Members play a crucial role in enhancing health outcomes in underserved communities by addressing community health needs that are often unmet due to insufficient funding and resources. Each member is paired with a host site mentor who provides guidance, supervision, and access to professional development opportunities. Additionally, members participate in ongoing professional development, team-building activities, and other service opportunities through the NHC program.
