About The Position

The MH Director of Environmental Services at Morton Hospital is responsible for overseeing the environmental services department, ensuring that all areas are maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness and safety. This role involves preparing work schedules, supervising staff, conducting performance appraisals, and maintaining employee records. The director will also be involved in quality assurance, training, and coordinating services with other departments to ensure efficient operations. The position requires effective communication skills, the ability to manage time and resources efficiently, and a commitment to quality service.

Requirements

  • Two years prior experience in the monitoring and analysis of budgets, preferably in the Environmental Services/Laundry field.
  • Supervisory ability necessary to direct the activities of both English speaking and non-English speaking service personnel.
  • Interpersonal ability to interact with a variety of levels of personnel throughout the Hospital.
  • Numerical and clerical ability to prepare schedules and reports.
  • Knowledge of effective housekeeping techniques and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares work schedules and assigns work to subordinates directly and through Group Leaders.
  • Supervises assigned group of employees including continuous on-the-job training in proper work methods and use of equipment.
  • Completes performance appraisals and makes recommendations for wage actions and status changes.
  • Conducts daily/monthly meetings with subordinates to keep them informed of updated policies and procedures.
  • Maintains employee records such as attendance and time sheets.
  • Prepares reports such as hour reports, building code reports, weekly project reports, and quality control reports.
  • Prepares payroll for department and employee data changes as appropriate.
  • Inspects assigned work areas several times per day for special service needs.
  • Issues work orders and maintains quality control sheets.
  • Inspects work of each subordinate for completeness and quality.
  • Performs quality assurance using Q&A forms.
  • Assists training supervisor by identifying areas needing additional training.
  • May train employees directly.
  • Supervises set up for conferences and special functions.
  • Assists in evaluating and determining effectiveness of products, equipment, and procedures.
  • Interviews patients regarding cleanliness of facilities.
  • Ensures all equipment is properly maintained and in safe working condition.
  • Coordinates housekeeping services with other departments to assure efficient service.
