About The Position

The MEP Manager at Austin Commercial will oversee mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems for a significant $5 billion project in Phoenix, AZ. This role involves ensuring the constructability of designs, compliance with local building codes, and effective coordination among subcontractors. The MEP Manager will serve as a technical resource, manage project timelines, and ensure quality assurance throughout the construction process, contributing to the company's commitment to safety, service, and integrity.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of MEP experience with a general contractor or mechanical contractor.
  • Successful completion of OSHA 30-Hour Construction Industry Outreach Training (can be obtained within the first year).
  • Proficient in project management software and financial analysis tools.
  • Ability to build and manage high-performing teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in commercial construction projects.
  • Knowledge of local building codes and regulations.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate MEP trade activities and manage space requirements.
  • Conduct constructability studies and ensure compliance with building codes.
  • Manage the certificate of occupancy process and related inspections.
  • Review subcontractor submittals and proposed change pricing.
  • Attend and lead meetings with owners, architects, and subcontractors to discuss project progress and issues.
  • Ensure timely submission and completeness of mechanical/electrical shop drawings.
  • Perform detailed inspections of work in progress to ensure quality and compliance.
  • Establish early contact with city inspectors for fire sprinkler and life safety systems.
  • Review pay requests from subcontractors and resolve payment issues.
