About The Position

The Mental Health Technician at Northway Academy plays a crucial role in providing center-based Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) services to children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and related disabilities. This position involves working closely with a clinical team to implement therapeutic and behavioral plans, support developmental goals, and assist individuals in enhancing their social and self-management skills. The role is designed for compassionate individuals who are dedicated to making a positive impact in the lives of children and their families.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a graduate program in a mental health discipline or hold a master's degree in a mental health field.
  • Obtained a bachelor's degree in behavioral health, child development, or related fields with 6,000 hours of paid/clinical experience delivering ABA services.
  • Enrolled in or obtained a bachelor's degree in behavioral health, child development, or related fields with relevant experience.
  • Obtained an associate's degree in behavioral health, child development, or related fields with at least 2,000 hours of paid/supervised clinical experience.
  • Possess a high school diploma (or GED) with 4,000 hours of paid/supervised clinical experience.
  • Fluent in a non-English language or certified by a tribal nation.
  • Minimum of 18 years of age.
  • Compassionate approach with a reliable and responsible attitude.
  • Ability to connect with children and work collaboratively with others.
  • Experience in human services or knowledge of the field.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
  • Certification in Applied Behavior Analysis or related fields.

Responsibilities

  • Run therapeutic and behavioral plans to provide early intervention for children.
  • Guide individuals on developmental goals including communication, exercise, nutrition, and academic skills.
  • Support individuals in maintaining personal skills such as hygiene and grooming.
  • Teach and model interpersonal and social skills to help individuals thrive in their communities.
  • Assist in managing and redirecting agitated or aggressive behaviors.
