About The Position

The position involves leading the design of innovative MEMS sensor packaging solutions within the MEMS team at Collins Aerospace in Burnsville, MN. The role focuses on implementing physical designs, defining validation tests, and driving improvements in performance and manufacturability of MEMS packages. It offers opportunities to collaborate with cross-functional teams and gain experience in MEMS technologies applicable to the aerospace industry.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and a minimum of 3 years of experience, or in the absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience.
  • Working knowledge and experience of the Fab Processes and Flow.
  • Experience with CREO/Solid Works.
  • U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or granted refugee or asylee status).

Nice To Haves

  • BS or higher in Materials Science, Semiconductor Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Five + years of microfabrication/semiconductor design and/or manufacturing experience.
  • Solid fundamentals in electrical/material/mechanical/chemical engineering fields.
  • Familiarity with various package configurations and assembly/substrate technology.
  • Knowledge of failure analysis and relevant characterization techniques at package and silicon levels.
  • Knowledge of stress/strain relevant to materials, silicon, packages, and associated failure modes.

Responsibilities

  • Implement the physical design of packages and modules for MEMS sensors.
  • Define product validation and acceptance tests.
  • Drive innovation, performance, cost, and manufacturability improvements in package design together with vendors and system developers.
  • Interface with cross-functional teams on package design.
  • Support manufacturing operations for new product introduction and process troubleshooting.
  • Identify and drive cost-saving opportunities and/or performance improvement.
  • Support current product investigations and troubleshooting.
