About The Position

The Memory Care Program Coordinator at Brookdale Senior Living is responsible for planning, coordinating, and facilitating person-centered dementia-friendly programs that enhance the quality of life for residents within the dementia care community. This role emphasizes engagement and independence, ensuring that individual needs and preferences are honored in the provision of care and programming. The coordinator will work closely with residents, families, and community leadership to create a supportive and enriching environment for those with dementia.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in therapeutic recreation, gerontology, education, or related field preferred.
• Minimum two years of direct programming experience with older adults and persons with dementia preferred.
• Valid driver's license and a current 3-year driving abstract with no more than one moving violation.

• Experience in a leadership role within a dementia care setting.
• Knowledge of therapeutic recreation practices and principles.

Responsibilities

• Design a 7-day a week person-centered program that is engaging and meets the needs of individual residents.
• Develop a monthly calendar of activities based on residents' shared interests and ensure compliance with Brookdale's standards and regulations.
• Collaborate with community leadership to educate families and associates about Alzheimer's disease and dementia care.
• Provide direct supervision of Clare Bridge Program Assistants, including hiring, coaching, and conducting performance evaluations.
• Plan and coordinate special events and programs, ensuring alignment with Brookdale's culture and standards.
• Report changes in residents' health to clinical partners and collaborate on interventions for behavioral expressions.
• Oversee social media content related to the program and maintain budgetary controls for programming events.
• Perform personal care, housekeeping, and dietary responsibilities as needed.
