About The Position

It's more than a career, it's a calling. The position is for a Medical Assistant at the SSM Health Medical Group in O'Fallon, MO, specifically in the OBGYN Clinic. This is a full-time role with day shifts from Monday to Friday. The job includes a $3,000 sign-on bonus for qualified external candidates and qualified PRN internal candidates. The Medical Assistant will assist with in-basket management and processing paperwork, focusing on FMLA forms and notification of pregnancies forms. The role involves providing assistance with the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a registered nurse or provider.

Requirements

  • High School diploma/GED or 10 years of work experience.
  • For Wisconsin ONLY: High School diploma/GED or 10 years of work experience, and graduate of accredited school of medical assisting or education equivalency for certification.
  • Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) certification from American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) from National Healthcareer Association (NHA) or equivalent certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with treatments ordered by provider as supervised by provider or registered nurse.
  • Performs select clinical duties.
  • Interviews patients, measures vital signs, and records information on patients' charts.
  • Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients.
  • Performs basic clerical duties including answering the phone, maintaining records, scheduling patients, and filing.
  • Performs basic materials management functions to include ordering and stocking of supplies.
  • Assists with maintaining a clean and orderly environment.
  • May document the provider's encounter with patients.
  • Lists all proper diagnoses and symptoms, as well as follow-up instructions and prescriptions, as indicated by the provider.
  • Transcribes patient orders including laboratory tests, radiology tests and medications.
  • Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
