About The Position

Requirements

  • Current Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.
  • Satisfactorily complete applicable competency assessments/skills checklists within 90 days of hire/transfer into Medical Assistant job.
  • National MA Certification or current LPN/RN licensure for Medical Assistant III.
  • 7 years of Medical Assistant (or LPN or RN) experience in an outpatient clinic or other healthcare setting.

  • Successful completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or LPN/RN program.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine clerical and office duties including assembling necessary documents and supplies.
  • Effectively use computer applications in the office setting.
  • Schedule, coordinate, and monitor appointments, inpatient and outpatient admissions, tests, treatments, and procedures.
  • Maintain medical records and other information accurately.
  • Maintain inventory of supplies and order/restock as needed.
  • Document patient history, physical, and vital information into the medical record.
  • Assign procedural and diagnostic coding to encounter forms under provider direction.
  • Conduct pre-authorizations and referrals in accordance with third party insurer requirements.
  • Facilitate timely billing by completing necessary documentation.
  • Prioritize patient needs identified through various communication methods in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Recognize and appropriately respond to emergency situations.
  • Prepare and maintain examination and treatment areas.
  • Perform complete intake process as specified by physician or other providers.
  • Administer screening tests to patients as required.
  • Assist provider with examinations, procedures, treatments, and interventions.
  • Provide patient education as directed by the provider.
  • Report significant changes in patient condition or other pertinent patient information to the Physician.
  • Demonstrate accurate, timely, and efficient follow through with pharmacy refills and scheduling out of clinic procedures.
