About The Position

The Materials Management Clerk is responsible for ensuring the day-to-day operations of receipt and distribution activities are carried out in an efficient, orderly manner.

Requirements

  • Minimum: High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred: Associates Degree.
  • Minimum: 1 or more year of materials management experience.
  • Preferred: 3 or more years of materials management experience.
  • Other: ERP knowledge is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for processes within the replenishment process including development, creation, and maintenance of hospital-wide departmental inventories.
  • Conduct periodic inventory counting, EDI order transmission, and manage material receipt and replenishment systems utilizing the Periodic Automatic Replenishment (PAR) System.
  • Maintain par quantities, descriptions, and bar coding through direct access to and application of knowledge about electronics database.
  • Work with department managers and other personnel to establish adequate par quantities and volume of supplies.
  • Coordinate with external vendors for supply deliveries.
  • Interact with prime distributors for hospital supplies to resolve issues such as back orders, substitutions, delivery errors, and stat requests.
  • Make independent decisions to resolve supply-related matters.
  • Responsible for the receipt and delivery of all supplies and equipment received by the hospital.
  • Independently determine quantities, items, and proper storage for all inventories through analysis of requests, usage history, and costs.
  • Manage internal and external mail services as well as courier services.
  • Determine proper course of action within departmental policies and resolve problems through direct action or referral to appropriate Materials Management personnel.
  • Utilize PC-based communication, label generation, database, EDI, and spreadsheet programs to ensure proper documentation, ordering, and receiving of supplies.
  • Comply with all applicable policies and procedures, including maintaining acceptable attendance records and following dress code.
  • Participate in performance improvement activities as requested.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills pertinent to the functional approach to patient care and the organization.
  • Perform duties as an active member of the healthcare team.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of team dynamics and contribute to team building.
  • Make independent and sound decisions in providing materials and setting priorities.
  • Exercise judgment in the interpretation and application of policies and procedures to assure compliance with state, federal, and local requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.
