We are hiring a Managing Editor to join our team to help drive traffic and subscriptions to Benzinga.com. At Benzinga, content is king. Our approach allows us to deliver relevant trends and scoop stories no one else can. We live and breathe Benzinga, and our job is to spread the news like a grass fire and bring you the most engaging content possible. As a Managing Editor for Benzinga's web content, you will have a direct hand in creating stories seen by millions of readers and impacting the industry as a whole. If you are a financial news junkie who knows how to generate traffic and target critical audiences, we want to talk to you.

Requirements

  • Minimum 7 years experience at a digital publication, preferably in the financial media sector.
  • Minimum 5 years as an editor.
  • Minimum of 3 years in people management, including mentorship of new journalists.
  • Knowledge of the U.S. stock market and the world of finance and politics.
  • Expert command of best practices in news writing, story building, AP Style, journalism principles, copyright law and ethics.
  • Ability to produce short- and long-form stories as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a worldwide team of reporters during U.S. market hours, targeting earnings, economic news, M&A, IPOs and Wall Street commentary.
  • Approve pitches, delegate and assign features, exclusives, and breaking news.
  • Ideate new story types and topics that will resonate with our audience.
  • Utilize traffic analytics to make informed decisions about news coverage and feature content.
  • Engage with and acquire new Wall Street sources to uncover and publish exclusive and unique commentary on investment opportunities.
  • Outperform the competition and make Benzinga the #1 resource for new and established investors.
  • Oversee product development, including liaising with multiple departments and stakeholders.
