About the position
The Manager, Research Contracts and Finance is responsible for overseeing all accounting and contracting activities related to research at West Cancer Center & Research Institute. They work closely with various stakeholders including sponsors, investigators, clinical staff, and partners. This position involves establishing policies for contract and budget review, negotiating and monitoring contracts, managing budgets for studies, and ensuring compliance with protocol requirements. The Manager also oversees financial reporting, receivables, and audits, as well as coordinating internal and external meetings. A Bachelor's degree and at least four years of clinical contract/budgets/accounting experience are required for this role. Exceptional communication skills are also necessary.
Responsibilities
- Establish policies/processes for review of contracts and budgets
- Provide training and education to staff as needed
- Review, negotiate, and monitor contracts for all vendors providing research related services, clinical trials, chart review, investigator initiated trials, other research projects, and confidentiality agreements
- Assign clinical trial agreements to appropriate staff in department
- Communicate with staff regarding reasons for revisions to contract as needed
- Ensure all contract requirements are addressed
- Communicate with VP of Research Services and Director of Research Nursing to obtain specific protocol requirements
- Manage review of budgets for all studies
- Oversee negotiations of budgets ensuring sufficient compensation as required given project related Scope of Work
- Work closely with regulatory staff and clinical team reviewing the informed consent, protocols, and contract requirements
- Ensure contracts and budgets are returned to Sponsor in a timely manner
- Oversee the development of Medicare Coverage Analysis and research billing sheet for each clinical trial
- Oversee the patient and revenue tracking through use of the Clinical Trial Management System (CTMS)
- Submit monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and other financial reports as requested
- Manage outstanding receivable reports and oversee research collections activities
- Oversee tracking and reporting of cash receipts, posting of payments, and submitting of invoices and check requests
- Perform internal audits to assure that study revenue is accurately captured
- Monitor contact and budget Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) with Quality Assurance
- Revise and implement SOPs as needed
- Coordinate and participate in internal and external meetings as needed
- Interface internally with appropriate staff in each department of West Cancer Center & Research Institute including finance, billing, data management, regulatory, investigator, clinical staff, and quality assurance
- Interface externally working closely with the Sponsor, CRO, and vendors
- Maintain a professional approach respecting the dignity and confidentiality of associates, managers, and vendors

Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
- Minimum four years of clinical contract/budgets/accounting experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
