About The Position

State Garden Inc. is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician II to join their Maintenance department in Chelsea, MA. This full-time position involves the installation, maintenance, and repair of machinery, equipment, and physical structures in an industrial environment. The technician will ensure the effective performance of equipment and contribute to the operational success of the company, which has been a leading supplier of organic and conventional produce for over 75 years.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of related experience.
  • Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and other manuals.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office products (i.e. Outlook).
  • Powered Industrial Truck certification.
  • Valid driver's license.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience with Powered Industrial Trucks preferred.
  • Electrical experience.
  • Plumbing experience.

Responsibilities

  • Performs routine preventive maintenance by inspecting and testing machinery equipment in the production facility.
  • Detects equipment and machinery malfunctions and discusses machine operation with supervisors to diagnose problems.
  • May train lower-level technicians on inspections, assembly, disassembly, installation, repairs, and preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Dismantles machinery and removes/replaces defective parts; installs new equipment or repairs parts.
  • Assembles, installs, and maintains pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment.
  • Repairs and maintains physical structures of facilities; ensures that all maintenance equipment is in good working order.
  • Reads, interprets, and follows instructions in operator and maintenance manuals.
  • Safely operates hand and power tools as well as cleaning equipment.
  • Utilizes CMMS system for filing work order requests and completions; records and reports worn and damaged parts.
  • Follows appropriate process for obtaining parts with focus on maintaining proper inventory.
  • Complies with all food and human safety and health regulations.
  • Responds to emergency calls for maintenance and repairs.
  • Cleans, organizes, and maintains shop work areas; inspects and cleans each area they perform repairs in the facilities.
  • May utilize powered industrial trucks or self-elevating work platform equipment.
  • May act as fire watch for hot work permits.
  • May use company maintenance vehicle to pick up parts.
