About The Position

The position serves as a Maintenance Supervisor in the Mechanical Unit in Facilities Management Service at the VA Southern Oregon Healthcare System. The VA Southern Oregon Healthcare System, also known as the VA Southern Oregon Rehabilitation Center and Clinics (SORCC), provides primary care and mental health care services to veterans in southern Oregon.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must have a valid state issued Driver's License.
  • Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
  • May be required to serve a probationary period.
  • Subject to background/security investigation.
  • Pre-employment physical required.
  • Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is required.
  • Participation in the COVID-19 vaccination program is required.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, directs, lays out, assigns, coordinates, and supervises work performed by Maintenance Mechanic Leader, Air Conditioning Mechanics, and Pipefitters.
  • Ensures compliance with maintenance, repair, preventive maintenance, and contract management of Plumbing-RVAC of all buildings and structures.
  • Reviews and oversees the work of contractors and other trade specialists to ensure compliance with the terms of the contract.
  • Directs the team effort in providing HVAC/Plumbing support to the medical center within established time frames.
  • Ensures that FMS resources are efficiently and economically used.
  • Serves as the FMS coordinator for the HVAC/Plumbing shops.
  • Assists in the preparation of the FMS budget needs for day-to-day work activities of the HVAC/Plumbing shop.
  • Responsible for inspecting and repairing HVAC-related functions.
  • Attends foreman meetings and reports information to the shop staff.
  • Supervises minor improvement type jobs requiring direction and liaison between shops or other hospital activities.
  • Ensures seasonal demands for HVAC/Plumbing are addressed by assigning optimum staff.
  • Provides technical assistance to project managers, designers, and HVAC/Plumbing shop personnel.
  • Serves as the Contracting Officers Representative (COR) for any contract issued to support the station or projects assigned to the HVAC/Plumbing shops.
  • Acts as a safety advocate and representative for the shops supervised.
  • Oversees the day-to-day operations for the asbestos management program.
