Weyerhaeuser Company is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor for our Grayling, MI Panels facility. We are seeking an experienced individual to provide leadership for reliability and maintenance process improvements. The Maintenance Supervisor plans and leads the daily activities of a team of multi-craft maintenance in the areas of safety, quality and reliability focused maintenance practices. The Maintenance Supervisor will also be responsible for leading team meetings & trainings, identifying safety, environmental, quality & production issues, coordinating activities with production teams to maximize productivity and minimize cost, reduce waste while proactively addressing reliability concerns. Additionally, the Maintenance Supervisor leads the team by proactively resolving employee issues, builds teamwork, and ensures adherence to all applicable site policies and procedures in a fair and consistent manner.

  • Plan, develop, manage and provide effective leadership for the maintenance team.
  • Work with the team to proactively identify safety issues and address concerns.
  • Actively supervise and develop the maintenance team associates to ensure effective communication across & between shifts and with the production teams.
  • Utilize predictive and preventive maintenance systems to reduce unscheduled downtime.
  • Efficiently use reliable troubleshooting methods to ensure uptime, production volume and quality goals are met.
  • Implement effective training processes to build team capacity by enhancing and building the team's technical skills.
  • Utilize computer-based programs to support effective prioritization of maintenance requests, manage maintenance inventory, and delegate maintenance resources.
  • Analyze data to ensure proper down day tasks.
  • Support the improvement of key performance indicators and continuous improvement of maintenance functions.
  • Develop and train associates including coaching, mentoring, and performance management.
  • Participate in and/or lead initiatives for capital projects and problem-solving activities.
  • Assure purchasing functions follow established policies and procedures.
  • Facilitate team meetings & trainings.
  • Encourage innovation.
  • Lead the team by proactively resolving employee issues and ensuring adherence to all applicable site policies and procedures.
  • Staff, recruit and retain talent.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of three (3) years maintenance leadership experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Strong business leadership skills with the ability to understand and support the site's vision, strategy, goals and targets.
  • Experience in preventive and predictive maintenance methods.
  • Strong work ethic, good judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge of manufacturing equipment and processes.
  • Ability to perform a root cause analysis and effectively initiate corrective/preventative actions.
  • Demonstrated basic computer skills and proficiency in MS Office and other Windows based programs.
  • Demonstrated results in achieving and sustaining business goals.
  • Excellent team building, problem solving, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Track record of consistently demonstrating collaborative and inclusive leadership skills.
  • Ability to provide innovative solutions to continuously improve maintenance processes.
  • Ability to plan, lead and execute day-to-day maintenance activities.
  • Must be willing to work weekends and holidays as conditions require.
  • Ability to learn and use software associated with maintenance tracking systems.
  • Ability to work in extreme temperatures and at heights when conditions warrant.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial or Electrical Engineering highly preferred.
  • Experience in electrical and PLC programming and/or troubleshooting.
  • Vocational Technical training certificate.
  • Knowledgeable in Wood Products manufacturing.
  • Experience with LEAN processes.
  • Experience with SAP or other computerized maintenance tracking software.
