About The Position

The Maintenance HVAC Specialist is responsible for conducting routine inspections of HVAC and mechanical systems. Surveys facilities and buildings to identify HVAC maintenance needs. The Maintenance HVAC Specialist duties include but are not limited to the following: logging work and task completion, assembling, installing, repairing, troubleshooting, maintaining, and performing preventative maintenance on heating and cooling systems, boilers, furnaces, air conditioning units, and all other mechanical systems. The role also involves diagnosing causes of problems and/or failures in HVAC systems for the purpose of identifying repairs or replacements, keeping a record of all repairs and preventative maintenance activities as required, and following the proper UTTC procurement policies and procedures. Additionally, the specialist will request supplies and materials to maintain inventory and ensure compliance with all accessibility, health, and safety codes. The position requires ensuring completion of projects in accordance with trade standards as well as local and state Plumbing, HVAC, and Electrical codes. The specialist must analyze prints, schematics, and drawings of HVAC systems for efficient installation or upgrades, coordinate with assigned supervisors or other staff to complete projects and work orders efficiently, respond to emergency situations during and after normal working hours, test and repair appliances as needed, assist in general maintenance, and perform other duties as assigned, including a minimum of 8 hours for Special Events.
