About The Position

The Maintenance Assistant is responsible for the cleaning and maintenance of common areas in a WellQuest Living community, ensuring that the property is maintained in a clean, safe, and comfortable manner. This role involves assisting the Maintenance Director with various maintenance and repair tasks, including electrical, mechanical, and plumbing duties, while also performing janitorial tasks as needed. The position requires flexibility to work evenings and weekends, and the ability to respond to on-call maintenance requests.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Prefer six months of experience in building maintenance or janitorial work.
• Ability to perform simple mathematical problems.
• Ability to understand and follow directions and solve maintenance problems.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with HVAC systems and troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of safety standards and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).

Responsibilities

• Clean entire common area of the property, including floors, carpets, walls, and ceilings.
• Maintain the maintenance room, paint room, and assigned storage areas in a clean and organized manner.
• Report hazardous conditions or equipment to the Maintenance Director immediately.
• Check daily for maintenance requests and complete repairs as soon as possible.
• Perform housekeeping duties in the absence of housekeeping staff or during high volume periods.
• Store paints and chemicals properly and maintain all equipment after use.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical issues, including wall switches and lighting.
• Perform minor plumbing repairs, such as fixing faucets and drains.
• Maintain grounds, including lawn care and pool maintenance.
• Complete preventative maintenance schedules and record actions on PM forms.
