About The Position

The Customer Service Representative at UF Health Crystal Springs is responsible for providing excellent customer service and greeting patients as they enter the department. This multi-skilled role involves assisting in various aspects of medical practice, including both administrative and clinical procedures, under the supervision of a licensed physician and Office Manager or Team Lead.

Requirements

  • 1 year of experience as a Medical Assistant.
  • High School Diploma / GED equivalent required at time of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • 2 to 4 years of clerical/customer service experience, ideally in a healthcare-related industry.
  • 1 year of experience with third-party payors and computer experience for inputting data and reviewing patient demographic material.
  • Medical Terminology Certificate - preferred within 30 days.

Responsibilities

  • Receives and directs messages (electronic, in person, and telephone calls) to the appropriate personnel.
  • Makes contacts to other departments, physicians, patients, and outside organizations as necessary for departmental operations.
  • Provides excellent customer service for patients, families, representatives, and other members of the treatment team.
  • Maintains patient scheduling functions and sets patient appointments through established guidelines.
  • Interviews and completes the registration process for patients utilizing the specific service.
  • Keys patient dispositions, diagnostic codes, patient orders, charges, and payments as defined in the electronic medical record.
  • Performs cashiering functions related to co-payments or other patient payments/collections.
  • May perform routine clerical duties for the department.
  • Performs venipuncture and administers routine, non-controlled medications.
  • Administers medication as directed by and under the direct supervision of a licensed physician.
  • Collects routine laboratory specimens as directed by the provider.
  • Performs basic laboratory procedures including aseptic procedures and taking patient's vital signs.
