About The Position

EthosEnergy Freedom Generating Station (FGS) is a $1 Billion, 1,050 MW (net), 2x1x1 GE 7HA.02 combined cycle electric generating facility in Luzerne County, PA. The Lead Operations & Maintenance Technician (LOMT) provides the assigned FGS team with a knowledgeable, multi-skilled expert to lead a shift crew in the operation of an 1,050 MW combined cycle power generation facility. The LOMT is a qualified and experienced Control Room Operator (CRO) with a demonstrated ability to operate the facility in all modes and configurations including emergencies and off-normal activities. The LOMT shall possess solid leadership, technical and administrative skills to ensure the facility is operated in a safe, reliable, efficient, and environmental responsible manner. The LOMT possesses a desire to collaborate with crewmembers daily to ensure work is completed in a timely and efficient manner.

Requirements

  • Mechanical, instrumentation and electrical equipment knowledge is required.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of all facets of power plant operations.
  • Demonstrates the ability to make competent decisions in emergency situations.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of all facets of gas turbine power plant maintenance.
  • Knowledge of GE 7HA.02 heavy frame, advanced technology gas turbines, GE A650 steam turbines and single shaft arrangements is preferred.
  • Experience with GE Mark VIe DCS is a plus.
  • Above average computer proficiency with Microsoft Office software.
  • Above average verbal and written communications skills.
  • Ability to operate a fork-lift and similar plant equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supervising or leading a team of 3-5 personnel minimum.
  • GE Frame 7FA or 7HA gas turbine with single and multi-shaft experience is desired.

Responsibilities

  • Operates and maintains a combined cycle generating facility and all associated auxiliary and support equipment with minimal guidance or assistance.
  • Proficient at operating the plant via a remote distributed control system (DCS).
  • Sets priorities for the day to day work.
  • Communicates plant issues and keeps the Operations Manager and/or Facility Manager fully informed of unusual conditions, damaged equipment, and current job progress.
  • Reads meters, gauges, or automatic devices to record data such as temperature of equipment, vibration of equipment, hours of operation, pressure, and fluid levels to verify operating conditions.
  • Visually inspects and listens to equipment at periodic intervals to detect malfunctions or need for repair, adjustment or lubrication.
  • Provides detailed status of plant conditions to fellow LOMT's at shift turnover.
  • Perform water chemistry analysis on HRSG, auxiliary boiler, and cooling tower systems.
  • Operate demineralized water system in accordance with OEM and plant procedures.
  • Fully supports the use of a computerized maintenance management system.
  • Maintains equipment by tightening fittings, replacing valve packing, gaskets, valves, gauges, etc.
  • Opens and closes valves as required for proper system operation and mechanical isolation.
  • Performs capital project and/or major program responsibilities as assigned by the Operations Manager.
  • Sets up and operates various tools and instruments to repair parts and equipment.
  • Diagnoses cause of mechanical malfunction or failure of operational equipment.
  • Uses fluke meter and other test equipment to calibrate and repair plant instrumentation and electrical circuits.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and inspecting programmable logic controllers.
  • Identify and resolve CEMS problems.
  • Perform general housekeeping and continuous improvement of the appearance of the facility.
  • Ensure all accidents/incidents/near misses/hazards are immediately reported to Facility Management.
  • Work within the team to develop a culture of safety and responsibility.
