About The Position

The Localization Producer at VIZ Media is responsible for overseeing the localization and production of anime projects, ensuring timely delivery of all localized production elements. This role involves project management, creative supervision, and coordination with internal teams and external vendors, requiring a high level of independence and expertise in localization processes.

Requirements

• 5+ years of localization project management in media & entertainment.
• Expert knowledge of dubbing and subtitling processes, production workflows, and digital assets.
• Proficient with productivity and collaboration tools (e.g., Google Workspace, Slack, Wrike).
• Experience translating or localizing content from Japanese into English; Professional/intermediate Japanese fluency.
• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.

Nice To Haves

• Familiarity with manga, animation, and anime titles.
• Experience with production software and tools (e.g., Adobe Premiere, subtitling software).

Responsibilities

• Independently lead and plan, execute, and deliver complex multi-language localization projects under tight deadlines.
• Evaluate, prepare, and coordinate resources and assets required for localization.
• Create scope of work and production schedules, monitoring progress against milestones and due dates.
• Identify critical paths for localization deliverables and create contingency plans for risk management.
• Oversee all aspects of subtitle and dubbing creation, including creative guidance and quality control.
• Manage localization requests from other departments, including document translation and copy creation.
• Contribute to the development and documentation of best practices, efficient workflows, and production documents.
