About The Position

This position is for a practical or vocational nurse within the Federal service, specifically located in Kyle, SD and Wanblee, SD. To qualify, candidates must demonstrate sufficient experience and/or education to perform the duties of the position. This includes both paid and unpaid experience, such as volunteer work through National Service programs like the Peace Corps or AmeriCorps. Candidates must clearly identify their duties and responsibilities in each position held, including the total number of hours worked per week. The position requires a current license to practice as a practical or vocational nurse in a State or territory of the United States or the District of Columbia, or proof of application for such a license.

Requirements

• Current license to practice as a practical or vocational nurse.
• At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in the Federal service.
• Experience in a hospital, outpatient clinic, nursing home, or other supervised patient care facility.
• Completion of a practical nurse program of at least nine months duration combined with one year of nursing assistant experience.
• Completion of a 2-year degree program in practical nursing from an accredited institution.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care including administering medication by IV, PO, IM, and respiratory treatments.
• Obtain physiological measurements such as body weight, height, temperature, and vitals.
• Independently assess patients to identify chief complaints and provide care according to clinical diagnosis.
• Document observations and outcomes in patient medical records.
• Assist with dressing changes, ambulation, and antibiotic therapies.
