About The Position

The Librarian positions at Normandale Community College are full-time faculty roles focused on enhancing library services through instruction, outreach, acquisitions, and cataloging. Requirements

  • Master's degree in Library Science or equivalent degree.
  • Experience working with individuals or groups from diverse backgrounds.

  • Experience with open educational resources, copyright, and Creative Commons.
  • Knowledge of relevant technologies for managing and disseminating OER.
  • Experience with library acquisitions, including creating purchase orders and managing a budget.
  • Experience with financial software like Workday Finance and Alma integrated library system.
  • Knowledge of current cataloging systems and best practices.
  • Experience cataloging print, online, and audiovisual materials.
  • Experience working in academic libraries with outreach and engagement.
  • Teaching experience in information literacy and research instruction.
  • Knowledge of instructional design technologies for developing online materials.
  • Evidence of continuous professional development related to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality course-integrated instruction tailored to the discipline, course, and assignment.
  • Offer high-quality reference and research assistance to a diverse population.
  • Coordinate library instruction and reference programs.
  • Collaboratively coordinate, promote, and assess campus-wide textbook affordability initiatives.
  • Guide faculty in discovering, using, or creating OER for their courses.
  • Plan and implement campus-wide programs and events to promote library services and resources.
  • Establish and direct workflows for print, electronic, and audiovisual materials in acquisitions and cataloging.
  • Work with vendors to procure resources and negotiate contract terms.
  • Create and implement cataloging practices in line with evolving standards and best practices.
  • Develop and execute library work plans, policies, and procedures.
