About The Position

The Ultrasound Technologist will perform all ultrasound duties and other related duties as needed to facilitate workflow and promote health care. Under the supervision of the Radiology Manager and/or Lead Technologist, the Ultrasound Technologist will operate ultrasound equipment in a safe and competent manner to produce quality diagnostic images as directed by physicians according to established standards and protocols.

• Ability to communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and hospital staff members.
• Ability to apply medical terminology.
• Independent thinking to exercise good judgement in determining actions in emergency situations and maintain control.

Responsibilities

• Assists physicians in invasive and non-invasive procedures using proper sterile technique.
• Obtains and reviews documentation before performing exam, including Physician Prescription, Consent Form, and Contrast Media Questionnaire.
• Quality checks all exams in RISynergy as the exam is completed to ensure accurate historical report data.
• Selects proper technical factors on an individual basis to ensure the highest quality of diagnostic images.
• Responsible for thorough knowledge of Ultrasound policies, procedures, equipment, and supplies as well as the operation of PACS, RIS, HIS programs.
• Takes an active part in patient education by explaining the examination process.
• Promotes positive patient relations in a caring environment by making patients comfortable and at ease during procedures.
• Transfers and positions patients using extreme care, patience, and proper body mechanics.
• Identifies patients using the hospital's double identification policy.
• Responds to back-up calls as needed within 30 minutes.
