About The Position

Western Alliance Bank is seeking self-motivated, energetic, and experienced Business Systems Analyst Lead (BSA). The analyst will work closely with our agile technical delivery team, various business partners and stakeholders. Plays a key role in supporting critical projects including HOA and other AAB business lines. As the Staff IT Analyst II, you'll lead activities to review current processes and metrics that support operational effectiveness, identify constraints or opportunities that inhibit or accelerate the business and/or technology strategy, while also developing potential options/approaches to improve business outcomes. You'll also lead development and review of artifacts to ensure they accurately describe current state processes, practices, and/or metrics, while also ensuring the documentation of any alternative processes or practice options with associated impact on KRIs, KPIs or Operational Metrics. Additionally, as the Staff IT Analyst II, you'll identify and facilitate discussions with IT, Product, and the Business subject matter experts, to understand the problem statement and/or opportunity while also capturing any relevant insights to include a full review of the findings or artifacts produced to validate the right problem or opportunity is being assessed. Interact directly with business partners to identify pain points, opportunities, and design systems solutions. Build detailed and well-groomed Agile Stories in partnership with Tech Leads from feature level Business concepts / Ideas. Participate in assessing feasibility of those Agile Stories. Provide technical leadership and mentoring for junior team members. Some experience in building reports from available data sources leveraging Data Visualization tools. Leads business interviews to analyze and document current and future states along with product owner. Identifies, manages and tracks business and technical objectives. Become a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on the system processes and data structures that support AAB business unit, and, when needed, provide training to end users and/or other IT Personnel. Documents business, technical requirements, and/or critical business processes using textual and visual modeling techniques like user stories, journey diagrams, mental models, business process flow, use case, system flow and state diagrams. Works closely with product owner, UI/UX designers, facilitate the generation of workflow, lo-fidelity and hi-fidelity wireframes. Gains knowledge and support data governance team by providing data mapping, data store, its intent, meaning, context, and lineage on the enterprise data catalog. Understand and communicate on both technical and business front to all levels of staff and management. Review current documentation for applications and systems and take necessary actions as appropriate (create new, modify existing, etc.). Leverage Risk Management experience from a large financial institution subject to heightened standards, specifically in risk, compliance, or corporate governance.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of banking experience as BA/BSA or in operations roles.
  • Bachelor's degree or relevant equivalent experience.
  • Experience in requirements gathering and documentation using techniques like user stories, business process flow, use case, system flow, state diagrams and data maps preferred.
  • Good communication skills with any type of audience, internal (all levels)/external (to include vendors - Sales/Technology).
  • Working knowledge of Agile, ADOs, Cloud and/or DevOps philosophies.
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, Excel, MS Word, Visio Drawing and/or Lucid chart tools.
  • Understanding of IT Service Management including Problem, Change, and Incident Management processes.
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, problem-solving, influencing, prioritization, decision-making and conflict resolution skills.
  • Good understanding of UX artifacts like journey diagrams, mental models, persona reports, site maps, wireframes, style guides etc.
  • Experience in report generation, SQL, data structures, excel macros are highly desired.
  • Understanding of programming or scripting languages like python, java script, type script, shell, batch is a plus.
  • Understanding of existing data visualization tools and any experience with PowerBI is a plus.
  • Entry level to intermediate knowledge of applicable regulatory and legal compliance obligations, rules and regulations, industry standards and practices.
  • Intermediate to advanced in process and data analysis within a specific domain or functional area utilizing critical thinking skills.
